Get up on your feet… and dance! We loved how this wedding was just as much of a party as it was a witness of two people coming together in a union of marriage. From the newlyweds’ first dance (the groom made his bride’s wishes come true!) to the guests dancing the night away, it was memorable on every front.
The long tables with gilded Tiffany chairs, lush floral tablescapes and beautiful hanging lights in brass geometric planters made for a resplendently glamorous setting. Combine that with the sea breeze and calming sounds of the ocean, and it was a real sight to behold. Michelle of Wedstyle: “Based in Brunei and due to the many restrictions in the country, the couple decided to have a destination wedding in one of their favourite places: Kota Kinabalu! They had their closest family and friends spend a few special days with them in the lead up to the big day, and relived all the fun memories together for days after too.
“Guan and Kimberly’s first dance was so special and romantic – it was like a fairytale come true for her, as he doesn’t really dance and had to practice the dance routine a lot prior to the wedding!”
“As both the bride and groom are outgoing, fun and love the sun and sea – they wanted a beach wedding theme that was classy and modern at the same time. They are lovers of jazz and funk music, so we found this amazing 12-piece band from Kuala Lumpur and flew them in just to perform at the wedding. The band was worth every cent as everyone was on their feet the entire night.
“To top it all off, we found a fantastic DJ for the after-party in one of the private function spaces at the resort. We transformed it into a nightclub and everyone was dancing until 4am. Needless to say, it was an awesome night!”
Tips from the wedding planner: “Try not to do everything yourself. Engage some professional help if possible as they would know who’s the best vendor for you according to your style and budget. Most brides don’t realise it’s more important that they enjoy their big day rather than stress over every little detail. It’s helpful to have someone who’s not part of the family plan/coordinate the wedding instead.”
