It’s not every day we see a relationship that lasts 10 years, so we’re truly happy for Janel and Paulo, who not only found a lover in each other, but a best friend whom they will keep by their side forever. From the bride: “The whole wedding was unforgettable but some of the most special moments were when we recited our personal vows, and when I walked down the aisle and saw our families, friends and my grandparents, and Pau waiting for me at the altar. It has always been my dream to walk down the aisle in a pretty white gown. When my grandfather danced with me during the reception, I cried. I felt at that very moment that no matter what happens, I would always be his little girl.
“We wanted a theme that was not too over the top and décor heavy, so we chose polka dots and stripes since it is simple, yet very cute and easy to match. As it was summer, salmon pink, seafoam green and mint seemed suitable. Pau and I never thought of having our reception indoors. We wanted to be different from the weddings we’ve attended. We love the idea of backyard receptions because they seem very simple, comfortable and fun.
“Together with my cousin and friends, we made a newspaper to share our story as a couple with our guests. We wanted to share with them our 10 years of being together. We had different games that involved all of our guests throughout the night, for example trivia questions for guests to get to know us better, and Jenga as an alternative to tossing the bridal bouquet.
“Prepare a lookbook of how you envision your wedding and reception to be. It helps you put everything together and match your ideas.”
Putting aside all the pretty things, what we truly want to celebrate is this couple. You have to listen to the vows they make to each other in the video compiled by IGS Cinema to understand the love that they have for each other. It suddenly dawned upon us that a pretty wedding is but an empty shell if true love is not part of the whole thing.
