    The Wedding Notebook Magazine January 2016 – Issue 13

    In this issue we look at weddings with different “personalities”, from minimalist and bohemian to chic and oriental. Gone are the days of cookie cutter nuptials; today’s DIY bridal couples are showing off their individuality with confidence. Like a piece of art, their weddings are the expression of their passions, dreams and style. {If you have problem viewing, please click here}

    Blush Pink Chic Wedding at City Harvest Kuala Lumpur

    Unfortunately, Malaysia’s (often uncomfortable) tropical weather just doesn’t lend itself well to outdoor celebrations. But with its expansive windows and high ceilings that added to the glamour and beauty of this ceremony, City Harvest KL is arguably the next best thing to an outdoor wedding. From the bridesmaids’ mismatched gold and glittery dresses and groomsmen’s dapper grey suits to the soft pink, white and green bridal bouquet, everything came together for this wedding, complementing each other perfectly. Just like the bride and groom. Thanks to Alextan Artworks for capturing this stylish and glamorous affair set up by Mint Events & Soirées.

    A Big Reunion At The Blue Mansion

    The Blue Mansion in Penang, previously known as the Cheong Fatt Tse Mansion, brings you back in time and leaves you with a warm feeling of home. Here, the iconic blue structure, very wisely combined with colourful kebayas and cheongsams worn by the family, resulted in really beautiful photos.

    Timeless Elegance

    This wedding was held at Penang’s two most sought-after venues – a beautiful white garden ceremony at E&O Hotel followed by a chic dinner reception at the Blue Mansion. We love the bridal party, the bridal car and, of course, the stunning bridal gown. This is another good example of how to keep a traditional essence without missing out on some fun. Lynn didn’t have a Pinterest board because she knew exactly what she wanted. With the help of her planner at Touching Hearts, her wedding was nothing short of awesome. Thanks, Alex and Crazy Monkey Studio, for capturing this precious day and sharing it with us. Lynn: “I wanted…

    The Little Red Dress

    One thing Alex is good at is framing and making very ordinary places dramatic. This set of photos is simply amazing in how the simple little red dress makes the couple stand out. Malaysia is filled with locations like this – great sets all ready for the camera. As usual, Sekeping Victoria is perfect for bridal portraits. Dance Partners

    We’re probably biased, but we take pride in our selected list of photographers, passionate people who take the time to know the couples they photograph, and conceptualise something personal for each of them. We love these pieces because they look almost like art – quiet and still yet full of emotion, both from this couple’s movements and their gaze. We’ve been told diagonal lines add dynamic to photographs, which those pretty legs sure do. JANE & ENRICO {Malaysia} Photography by Alextan Artworks / Assisted by Calvin Ng

The theatrics and emotion involved in weddings moved him to further explore the industry, and in 2009, Alex established Alextan Art Works. Believing that every photograph is a work of art and not just a photo, Alex’s style is a combination of artistic and journalistic. Even though he is fairly new in…
