Ivory and Blush Ocean View Wedding at Sergeant Mess Sydney

Here at The Wedding Notebook, we have always marvelled at brides who manage their own weddings, especially when there are multiple events for different groups of family and friends, both locally and overseas. Like many couples with several wedding reception obligations to fulfill, Bronwyn and Jason had three celebrations, all of which were efficiently organised and executed in line with their priorities. For their third and final reception, the couple’s vision was to have an intimate and relaxing evening with family and friends at Sergeant Mess Sydney, a splendid function venue with terrific views of the ocean. The bride got on to Instagram and pored over various DIY projects for…

A Casual Garden Party Wedding at Glasshouse at Seputeh

There’s no rule saying that your wedding party has to be a sit-down multi-course meal. We love how this couple opted for fairy lights and disco balls, a huge buffet spread, and free-flow alcohol to celebrate their union! Keeping it simple yet classic with green and white floral elements – mostly baby’s breath, ferns and big leafy greens – other decorative highlights included white steel metallic boxes, a fun tepee, and everyone’s bright happy smiles! It was a real celebration that was beautifully captured by Daren Chong Photography.

An Outdoor Wedding At The Smokehouse, Cameron Highlands

Here’s another example of how picking the right venue for your wedding ceremony can save you lots of time and money in the decorating department, while also keeping your guests as comfortable as possible. This lovely wedding was held in the beautifully kept gardens of The Old Smokehouse in Cameron Highlands, which needed absolutely no additions at all to make it picture perfect. With lovely flowers and foliage everywhere, you can see from the photos how much everyone enjoyed the setting. How we wish there was a way to fill every outdoor venue in Malaysia with cool, sweet highland air! For the reception in the dining hall, the table settings…

    Timeless 1960s Oriental Bridal Portraits

There’s something unspeakably timeless about a vintage Oriental mood shoot, complete with elements of nostalgia and melodrama. Think Wong Kar Wai’s ‘In the Mood for Love’. From the soft mood lighting to the hair, makeup and wardrobe choices, this style is subtly romantic yet heavily dramatic. We love the hidden angles and muted tones; many thanks to Daren Chong Photography for this artistic set of bridal photographs! Lots Of Laughter In Seoul And Melbourne

Daren Chong managed to bring out the many different sides to this couple, whom he shot in two of the more popular bridal portrait destinations around. Check them out, these photos do not disappoint. Daren: “The series of photos was based on Shannon and Shi Nong’s personality. We did a quirky concept shoot for them at the Noryangjin Fish Market in Seoul, a shoot with a vintage feel at Nami Island, a fun theme matched with bright outfits at a night market, lovely blue tones at Jongnogu (Old Town), as well as some lifestyle shots in Melbourne, Australia.

    Beautiful Details

Instead of flowers and champagne, this bride really invested in the décor and chose something that best reflected the bridal couple – a happy, carnival-themed wedding that was bursting with colour and that surely lifted everyone’s spirits. Thanks, Daren Chong, for sending us this beautiful wedding that was styled by Bliss & Glitz.

    Another Way Of Storytelling

Our hearts leap with joy whenever we see a couple jump onto the bandwagon of imagination and creativity. Daren Chong’s latest set is quite unlike anything you have ever seen him do, and it is great to see photographers pushing their own boundaries. Daren: “Photography is a fantastic storytelling medium, or at least, a way to unleash my imagination and creativity. Whether you’re telling a story with one image, a sequence, a series or an entire portfolio, the possibilities are endless. Just ask yourself what story you want to tell, and photography will get you there. “I’ve always wanted to incorporate fun ideas into photography and make a story out…

Fuchsia Pink, Yellow And The Tone Of Happy People

This outdoor ceremony and lunch reception was filled with sunshine and happy details, from the sunflowers and colourful macarons to the polka-dot lining and more. The bridesmaids, all dressed in fuchsia, looked really pretty in the photos – instead of stealing the bride’s limelight, the strong colour actually created a greater contrast against the white bridal gown. Great choice. The lovely desserts were made by the bride’s cousins and friends.
