1920s Shanghainese and Jazz Themed Wedding at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

We found ourselves poring over this gorgeous wedding album taken at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur again and again for its rich tones and meaningful accents – all thanks to the thoughtful bride. Having grown up in a traditional Chinese family, she was eager to embrace her heritage by making a bold statement at the most significant celebration of her life. Together with her groom, they decided on a 1920s Shanghainese and jazz theme, creating an opulent balance between traditional and modern. With Wishing Tree’s help, they got a photo wall that provided a traditional touch, while the banquet hall resembled a jazz bar. Thank you for these captivating photos,…

A Yellow Retro Party At UoVo

Inspired by the hippie culture of the ’60s, this styled shoot was also a birthday surprise for two special friends who had been wanting to reminisce the good old days of dapper fashion. Everyone loved the nostalgia of the evening – from the groovy hits of the swinging ’60s and delectable nibbles to the vintage collectibles and props in psychedelic prints. Theme parties are always great fun and allow for interesting and unexpected décor and memorabilia, which add greatly to the camaraderie of the evening. Plus you get a fantastic photo album from it! Thanks to Moments and Wishing Tree for sending this over, and Louis Loo Photography for these…

A Glittery Rustic Luxe Wedding At Tanarimba Janda Baik

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that a wedding is essentially a giant party – that is, if you set the right tone. These newlyweds went for contrast: glamorous yet rustic, classic yet modern, lavish yet intimate. It was a two-day celebration for their friends and family, and everyone clearly had an amazing time. The bride looked stunning in her glittery gold gown, which, together with the lush décor, high ceilings and wooden interiors, gave the wedding a rustic luxe feel. Meanwhile, the crystal elements and fairy lights, as well as the hanging vines and ivy, created a cosy, intimate setting. Many thanks to Louis Loo Photography for this wonderfully detailed…

A Blue Rustic Wedding In Sekeping Victoria, Penang

Ranging from baby blue to cobalt, the many shades of blue were the perfect colour palette for this intimate rustic themed wedding. Touches of blue were found in the bride’s bouquet and baby’s breath decorations, which complemented the wooden decorative elements such as tree trunk wood carvings, long wooden dining tables and twine. The bride looked absolutely resplendent in her gown, flanked by her bridesmaids all in light blue (but each in a dress matching their own style), while the groom was handsome in his deep navy suit and surrounded by his groomsmen all in their own dapper attire. Many thanks to Louis Loo Photography for capturing this sweet set…

Many thanks to Louis Loo Photography for capturing these stunning wedding shots!

    Oh My Succulent!

Here’s a refreshing alternative to flowers: succulents! These low maintenance plants are sturdy and resilient when it comes to withstanding transportation and unpredictable weather, and they’re gorgeous and versatile too. Available in different hues of green, succulents are known for their dewy texture and intricate leaf patterns, which makes them easy to style – be it glamorous, rustic, vintage, classic or cosy. Our thanks to Cindy Chang of Nupts & Such and Bryan Chew of Ohara Florist for this idea and decoration tip: using wine and martini glasses as dainty and aged mercury vases for the succulents.

Contemporary Oriental Setting At Tao Chinese Cuisine, Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur

Of late, many young couples have been embracing their traditions and cultures, giving us the opportunity to feast our eyes on variations of the Oriental theme. Today we want to share something different. An Oriental theme doesn’t necessarily mean all red. Neither does it mean that you have to forgo trendy wedding ideas like calligraphy and clean fonts, modern stationery and gold elements. The intimate lunch experience we recently had at Tao Chinese Cuisine at Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur gave us a good idea of how you can merge traditions with modern elements to create something contemporary. The Wedding Notebook, who firmly believes in pushing wedding boundaries, once again collaborated with…

Many thanks to Wishing Tree for the beautiful floral touches and magnificent décor, and to Louis Loo of Deviews Production for capturing these special moments. Su-Quinn: “Grand Hyatt’s chandeliers in their ballroom gave the entire hall and setup a great illumination, and it went hand-in-hand with my glitter theme. Somehow all the colours worked…

Romantic Ballroom Décor at DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur

Purple mixed with pink flowers was just the right combination for a ballroom with purple lighting, and candles adorned the romantic and dreamy setup.
