The Wedding Notebook Magazine October 2021 – Issue 36

After what has been a tumultuous 18 months, we are finally getting a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel. Here’s hoping 2022 will be a better year for all, as countries begin to emerge from the pandemic. As far as we’re concerned, weddings will never be the same again, and that’s why we’ve dedicated this issue to asking wedding photographers about the most meaningful weddings they’ve shot, and their predictions for future weddings (hint: no frills, intimate, and emotional). Bridal portraits, too, have shifted, as most couples opt to have theirs done locally. It’s no longer about magnificent landscapes in exotic destinations; rather, photographers are making…

A Quirky Festival-Themed Beach Wedding in Bira, Indonesia

This simple beach ceremony, officiated by close friends and with a very intimate guestlist, made for the most gorgeous wedding. Set against the ocean and blue skies, the bride and groom infused their celebration with so much of their free-spirited personalities and joie de vivre. From their wedding outfits and that cool arch to the bonfire-lighting ceremony to mark their exchange of vows, everything about this was unconventional. What a wedding! Thanks to Funkydali for sharing this beautiful set of photos with us. On the unparalleled beauty of Bira, Indonesia: “The skies in Bira were really something. We experienced beautiful sunsets, saw the Milky Way, lost count of the many…

Classic Oriental Wedding At Glasshouse At Seputeh

It is amazing how themes can totally transform a wedding venue. Glasshouse@Seputeh Kuala Lumpur has scored major points with event hosts, and it’s easy to see why. When it comes to weddings, this is a great space, especially for couples who have a very clear idea of their theme. We were mesmerised by the Shanghai-esque flavour of this wedding. The classy deep red of the handsome couple’s ‘qipao’ and shirt, drapes, lanterns and oriental wares all made for a stunning traditional Chinese setting. As the bride shared, “The most memorable moments were spending time with our guests and seeing all our plans come to fruition.” Good job, Spring Cottage, and…

    Two Parts Of A Whole

Two people who come together in a marital union often bring their own stories to the relationship, as they balance each other out in personality, interests and choices. Together, they’re a force to be reckoned with! We love this truly creative stop motion video that Funkydali has put together for Halina and Amir, which showcases their personalities against the gorgeous colonial backdrop of Kuala Lumpur and the dreamy landscape off the coast. Complemented by the bride’s impeccable taste, these bridal portraits and engagement video perfectly tell their love story.

What’s better than a party filled with vibrant colours, whimsical elements and a tropical theme? A tropical wedding party, of course! From the gilded pineapples to the poolside elements and amenities, a pool party right in the heart of the city would be the perfect setting for you to celebrate with loved ones. Throw in refreshing cocktails, bottled beers and delicious bites, and you’ll have a party to remember. TWN had the honour of having the couple Nick Davis and Eunice Lew, both talented singers in their own right, with us for this shoot. They are witty and fun, and we had loads of laughs, especially while working on the…

Great Storytelling With Colour Coordinated Outfits

An interesting location and the colour coordinated outfits make this set of photos worth mentioning. We love everything about it. Funky Dali, you’ve nailed it once again! Eunice: “We knew from day one that we weren’t going to play any videos at our wedding so we wanted our pre-wedding photos to tell a story. Plus we weren’t into the whole posing-for-hours-in-our-wedding-gear thing, especially not in our weather! “Funky Dali did an amazing job, coming up with the concept of breaking it all up into chapters that covered a little something about us as individuals and as a couple. They also managed to capture the whole he said/she said of how…

    Rustic Industrial

At the recent WAF2015, Bliss & Glitz put together a romantic, rustic industrial look at Zebra Square, complete with a good mix of vintage furniture and beautiful blossoms. We totally adored the vintage décor, especially the mobile drinks station.

    Bohemian Love

You might have noticed that the bohemian theme is a hot trend right now, even for bridal collections. Natasha from The Peak Xperience came up with this simple, lovely interpretation of the theme at WAF2015. She sure did a lot with just one corner, and we can only imagine how beautiful it would all look if she had a bigger space to work with.
