The Wedding Notebook Magazine July 2021 – Issue 35

With travel plans and many weddings put on hold, we hope this issue will inspire you as you plan your own pandemic wedding. Most of these couples will have waited at least a year for their big day, and there’s a couple who waited 693 days! Despite the pared down guestlists and last-minute changes, each of these weddings were a dream come true, featuring unique highlights such as the creative use of an abandoned space, a yacht celebration, a Santorini-like venue, and a surprise retreat in place of an after party! What’s that saying? “If you can’t change the situation, change your attitude.” See how you can emulate a destination…

Accompanied by their 20 guests, the trip followed their wedding ceremony at the conservatory-style restaurant Botanica + Co, and was actually a surprise from the groom to his new bride. How romantic! Many thanks to MunKeat Photography for capturing the joy of this beautiful celebration. Rowena of The Peak Xperience: “Jordan had pulled out all the stops to arrange a surprise retreat at The Shorea especially for Seh Xi, with a handful of their dearest friends…

An Artistic and Dreamy Film Bridal Photoshoot in Batu Pahat, Johor

At first glance, these bridal portraits look like they are straight out of a Japanese countryside. There’s a forgotten quality of film photography that is only achieved in digital photos with edits or filters these days. This styled photoshoot that was shot with a Kodak Portra400 and Canon Eos55 created the perfect dreamy vibe for this couple, and one would never have guessed that it was done right here in Batu Pahat, Johor! It’s amazing what a little creative styling and an old-fashioned film camera can do. Many thanks to Rayson Lo and Yandha Goh of Sanren Studio for this wonderful set of photos. A Quirky ‘Moonrise Kingdom’-Inspired Night Safari Wedding in Singapore

Now here’s a wedding for these Covid times – one that is outdoors and with facemasks! Turning the pandemic facemask on its head while also paying homage to Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ and ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, this couple incorporated “foxy” masks into their wedding, to brilliant effect. We love the rustic feel and nature vibes of the venue, not to mention the quirky aesthetics and fun additions in the form of exotic animals that made an appearance during the Night Safari! What a wonderful way to celebrate your wedding with family and friends. Many thanks to Leslie Photography for this beautiful set of photographs. Paige: “It rained throughout the morning…

A Stylish DIY Floral Wedding at Raffles Hotel, Singapore

What’s a wedding without flowers? We never want to find out, and especially not when the bride is a wedding florist herself! Linnette from Floral Magic knew right off the bat that she wanted lots of flowers, but what truly made her day special was getting to say “I do” to the love of her life, and seeing her family and friends come together for the celebration. Many thanks to Bloc Memoire Photography for these photos. Linnette: “There were so many memorable moments! Both of us catching each other’s eyes at the end of the aisle, my niece hijacking my sister’s speech with a song because she wanted to perform,…

Artistic and Dreamy Bridal Portraits with LED Lights

Not only has the pandemic affected wedding celebrations and receptions, but couples also found themselves limited to local spots when it came to shooting bridal portraits. It didn’t help that Singapore is a rather small country, but fortunately, it has a vibrant artistic community and photographers who found ways to make photoshoots interesting. Often, this meant trying new things and going outside of their comfort zone. Here, Pixioo Photography experimented with LED lights for these night portraits, and we are in love with the results.
