A Romantic, Moody Floral Wedding at Sentul Depot, Kuala Lumpur

The pandemic definitely threw a spanner into the works, but that didn’t stop Eileen and Nicholas from planning their dream wedding – and having the time of their lives when they finally got to celebrate their union. We know many couples have had to recalibrate their wedding plans, and these newlyweds were no different. From the décor to the delectable cheeseboard, they put extra thought into their special day to make their guests feel as if they had “travelled” somewhere. A Romantic Elopement Styled Shoot at The Datai Langkawi

Malaysians are truly fortunate to have such an abundance of beautiful resorts and beaches on our doorstep. It might be a while before we can hold destination weddings again, but there’s nothing stopping you from saying “I do” by the beach, or against the backdrop of a lush rainforest. From the sun-soaked private beaches of Datai Bay to the lush gardens and rainforests surrounding The Datai Langkawi, could this be any more perfect for an intimate wedding or romantic elopement? Located at the north-western tip of Langkawi island, this exclusive resort has all the answers: a cosy, sunset ceremony on the beach, perhaps, or the magical deck overlooking the rainforest…

A Light-Filled, Minimalist Wedding with a Surprise Getaway at The Shorea!

With the pandemic that is upon us, it’s time to get creative. Life has to go on, and we love how this couple celebrated their union with a surprise getaway for their “after party”. Accompanied by their 20 guests, the trip followed their wedding ceremony at the conservatory-style restaurant Botanica + Co, and was actually a surprise from the groom to his new bride. How romantic! Many thanks to MunKeat Photography for capturing the joy of this beautiful celebration. Rowena of The Peak Xperience: “Jordan had pulled out all the stops to arrange a surprise retreat at The Shorea especially for Seh Xi, with a handful of their dearest friends…

An Artistic and Dreamy Film Bridal Photoshoot in Batu Pahat, Johor

At first glance, these bridal portraits look like they are straight out of a Japanese countryside. There’s a forgotten quality of film photography that is only achieved in digital photos with edits or filters these days. This styled photoshoot that was shot with a Kodak Portra400 and Canon Eos55 created the perfect dreamy vibe for this couple, and one would never have guessed that it was done right here in Batu Pahat, Johor! It’s amazing what a little creative styling and an old-fashioned film camera can do. Many thanks to Rayson Lo and Yandha Goh of Sanren Studio for this wonderful set of photos. A Joyful Dusty Pink Beach Wedding At Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang

As we mark a year since Covid-19 came into our lives, we also celebrate with this bride and groom who managed to squeeze in their nuptials before the world, and our lives as we knew it, changed. Their celebration was so intimate, cosy and full of love! In lieu of wedding entertainment, the bride’s family performed, which made it even more meaningful. The elegance of their beach wedding transformed into a marquee reception was subtle yet classy, made complete with a colour palette of white, dusty pink and sage. Many thanks to Sugar and Spice Events for sharing and Manoj Photography for capturing this sweet wedding! Jia-Wei: “There were so…

Bridal Shower with a Palm Springs Theme

Colourful moodboards continue to be the trend this season, as this bridal shower with a Palm Springs theme demonstrates. What a laidback and fun party! Thanks to I Heart Party for sharing this absolutely chic event with us, and Fad Manaf Wedding & Portrait Photography for the photos. Juliana: “Friendship is something I hold very dear to my heart, and all the ladies that were invited have shared with me, in some form or shape, their friendship and love. It was so important for me to have them attend my bridal shower, and although a few women were missing from the day, having most of them attend and celebrate this…

A Chic, Nature-Filled, Dusty Blue Wedding at Tamarind Springs, KL

Weddings don’t always have to be formal affairs, you can get all dolled up for a low-key celebration too. Here, we love the combination of a dusty blue colour palette and wooden textures, surrounded by lush greenery and elegant blooms. The bridal couple also added personal touches in the form of a sports jersey guestbook and a delectable gelato stand featuring Malaysian flavours. Many thanks to Zach Chin of MunKeat Studios for this delightful set of wedding photos! Jocelyn: “Our highlights of the day were multiple tear-jerking speeches, as well as a surprise video from my dad. He had spent several months practising and recording a song! “We have always…

Nature-Filled Engagement Portraits in the Hidden Gem that is Bako National Park, Sarawak

Inspired by this couple’s love for the outdoors, filled with sentimentality and untouched beauty, these engagement portraits perfectly capture the artistry of Mother Nature. Shot on an island that is part of Bako National Park, the fine sand beaches, dramatic granite rocks and exposed tree roots formed the most spectacular backdrop. We love the bride-to-be’s super chic outfit as well – a slouchy white suit jacket with a maxi skirt and wide-brimmed hat. Many thanks to Andy Phe Photography for this breathtaking set of photos! A Modern and Elegant Wedding at Seven Terraces Hotel, Penang

Colour us impressed with the level of detail that went into this gorgeous wedding, it’s so full of texture, colour and personality! Despite the traditional Peranakan-themed space, the newlyweds managed to weave a variety of modern touches into the décor so that everything came together beautifully. Many thanks to Jenny Sun Photography for capturing all the stylish details. Reuben and Ji-An: “There were so many moments that were our favourites. For Reuben, it was the exchanging of vows and his piano performance. For Ji-An, the speeches, Reuben’s performance, and the father-daughter dance were really memorable. When we were planning our wedding with Hui Wen from Soiree Lab, there were so…

A Colourful Twist On Traditional Bridal Portraits In Malacca

We love weddings that incorporate elements of traditional Malay and Chinese attire, such as batik and the kwa, and we especially love the way this couple took those elements and gave it a refreshing, modern twist! The individual touches throughout, like pairing the long sarong-like skirts with sneakers, were subtle yet significant, allowing the lovebirds to put their own stamp on the bridal portraits. Another element that is uniquely 2020: the face mask! Set against the fun backdrop of Malacca, the bride’s curious take on her hairstyles, from Dutch braids to twin buns, really completed the look. Many thanks to Jens Kv Photography for this set of bridal portraits!

Refreshing and Gorgeous Wedding at Rama V Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur

We can’t help but smile going through this gorgeous album. The wedding was supposed to have been held in the outdoor area of the Rama V Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur, but alas, it started to pour just half an hour before the ceremony – just as the couple arrived! We love how undeterred they were, putting their best foot forward and bringing their wedding indoors. Our thanks to Louis Gan Photography for these brilliant captures, and Little Once Deco and Witchwood The Florist for the lovely décor!
