A Romantic Elopement Styled Shoot at The Datai Langkawi

Malaysians are truly fortunate to have such an abundance of beautiful resorts and beaches on our doorstep. It might be a while before we can hold destination weddings again, but there’s nothing stopping you from saying “I do” by the beach, or against the backdrop of a lush rainforest. From the sun-soaked private beaches of Datai Bay to the lush gardens and rainforests surrounding The Datai Langkawi, could this be any more perfect for an intimate wedding or romantic elopement? Located at the north-western tip of Langkawi island, this exclusive resort has all the answers: a cosy, sunset ceremony on the beach, perhaps, or the magical deck overlooking the rainforest…

The One Who Makes the Everyday Extraordinary

Sometimes we get so caught up in counting down to the wedding day that we forget what’s truly important are the days that follow the exchange of vows. To celebrate life after the wedding, we are doing two special posts of couple doing regular, everyday things, because of course marriage is made up of all these ordinary days. In collaboration with Rev AsiaxEcoWorld, we photographed this couple highlighting their mundane routines of life – such as doing the laundry, grocery shopping or walking in the park – made special by the presence of a cherished spouse. We love these cute portraits captured by Twins Photography!

The Love Story Continues at Home

It is one thing to shoot a set of bridal portraits when you are both newly engaged, and quite another to do it after a year of marriage. Most couples find the first year after moving in together challenging, and that is the real test – only those who truly enjoy each other’s company will survive. In this collaboration with Rev AsiaxEcoWorld, we found a couple who had been married for a year, and photographed them doing simple, everyday things. We adore this set of portraits that was taken by Joshua Koh Photography. If you think the photos are lovely, their love story will melt your heart.

A Cosy and Elegant Wedding Inspired by Fall Colours at The RuMa Hotel and Residences

Intimate wedding celebrations can still be elegant and romantic. This cosy, modern space at The RuMa Hotel and Residences exudes warmth with its earthy tones, wooden textures and soft lighting, making it perfect for a party of 80. Instead of the usual banquet style reception, why not have a sit-down meal with a fully customisable menu, complete with a desserts table that can be created to match your theme colours. Take your reception or ROM to the next level with a glorious view of the Petronas Twin Towers. Conceptualised and styled by The Wedding Notebook, this wedding brought out the woodsy elements with natural hues highlighted by moody fall colours.…

Boho Chic With A Pop Of Orange At The Andaman Langkawi

Facing the Andaman Sea is The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort, Langkawi, home to one of the most beautiful natural private beaches on the island. Perfect for your destination wedding, The Andaman is also a resort that believes in sustainability and preserving the environment. You won’t find any single-use plastic straws (instead, wheat straws are preferred), and their food is sourced locally. Textures such as dried leaves, wildflowers and pampas grass are one way to add a bohemian yet dreamy, romantic vibe to a beach wedding. We love the ornate circle arch framing the bride and groom against the muted neutral colours of the beach and sky, while the bright…

Timeless White and Gilded Gold at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur

Nothing spells romance like velvet textures and draping as part of the backdrop at a ballroom wedding reception. Completing the elegant space at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur is this classic all-white look, along with the feathery light brown pampas grass that we have been seeing in almost every wedding this year. Our favourite part, though, is the bunch of dried lotus pods and foliage that Tailored Floral graciously sprayed gold – the pops of gold certainly brought the entire look together. For this, The Wedding Notebook’s creative team took the liberty of experimenting with the stationery, slotting place cards with menus that doubled up as bookmarks for wedding favours.…

Gilded Geometrics and Blush Florals at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel

The perfect venue is a beautiful blank canvas that will fit any theme – and the newly refurbished Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur ballroom is exactly that. Now boasting a contemporary feel with neutral colours, it was the site of this gorgeous setup. We cannot thank Sherly of Tie The Knot enough for her efficient coordination. It was also our first time collaborating with Jasmine. A Photography – she’s truly wowed us with her photos!

A Romantic Gold and Blue Beach Wedding Styled Shoot at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi

Blue is one of the warmest colours, whether found in Mother Nature’s various hues or in the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi’s brand new décor, which channels Moroccan vibes with vibrant cobalt tones. Featuring spectacular views of the azure sky meeting the emerald waters of the Andaman Sea at the horizon, and flanked by tropical rainforests and limestone cliffs, the resort is as dramatic as it is serene and romantic. These beautiful shots were captured by Peter Herman Photography, and many thanks to Darling Florist Langkawi for taking our moodboard and helping to bring the entire look to life.

White and Gold Minimalism with The Westin Kuala Lumpur

Muted neutrals kept the colour palette fresh and modern, while decorative elements such as DIY crystal stones in bell jars and gilded candlesticks injected glamour. Meanwhile, white chairs, white flowers with eucalyptus leaves, and dried wildflowers in grey vases brought a touch of Scandinavian aesthetic to the mix. Thanks, Inlight Photos, for always capturing good photos for us, and a huge thumbs up to Warm Wishes Florist for doing such a great job with our brief. Paired with The Westin Kuala Lumpur’s impeccable catering services – from the customised menu right down to the presentation and plating – no detail was overlooked. Thanks to them, everything was completely fuss-free as…

Elegant Tuscan-inspired Wedding at Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur

Here in Malaysia, we long for outdoor soirees, but have to contend with the humidity and heat. Because sunlight always makes for much better photos, glasshouses are the next best thing for bringing the outdoors inside. Together with Le Méridian Kuala Lumpur, The Wedding Notebook created the dreamy romance of a Tuscan garden wedding in their glasshouse by the pool, complete with a breezy brunch. Heartiest thanks to Inlight Photos for capturing it all!

Rustic Foliage At InterContinental Kuala Lumpur

With each new theme, the versatility of a space increases – if only we allow our minds to imagine what could be. Dressed in wild greenery and adorned with a splash of gold and bronze, this rustic foliage themed setup at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur is the result of a great collaboration between The Wedding Notebook and Wishing Tree. Many thanks to Inlight Photos for these amazing captures! For some time now, we have been wanting to explore a wild forest concept, and the opportunity finally arose. Here, in addition to the greenery, we added white phaleonopsis and lilacs for an exquisite touch alongside the pink fillers and gold props.…

Couture-Inspired Mix Of Creams And Blush At The Westin Kuala Lumpur

We at The Wedding Notebook have been savouring the romantic combination of floral and tulle in couture bridal fashion these past few seasons, so much so that we decided to roll up our sleeves and get into some theme planning fun for our recent lunch event at The Westin Kuala Lumpur. We found great joy in sourcing and mixing fabrics for this themed affair – a dreamy marriage of blush, pink and off white with a touch of gold. There was a mix of ruffles and tulle for the table settings, which flowed in perfect keeping with the hues of the theme, and some stationery as well, courtesy of yours…
