Celebrating Their Original Wedding Date With a Simple Rustic Chic Vow Exchange At KLoé Hotel

By now, you would have heard of many cancelled weddings and postponed receptions. While disappointing, these newlyweds still wanted to honour the day they were originally going to become husband and wife. Their intended wedding date fell during Malaysia’s Movement Control Order, which meant large gatherings were not allowed but photoshoots with strict social distancing in place were good to go. These pre-wedding shots were taken at the newly opened rustic chic boutique hotel, KLoé Hotel in downtown KL, and the couple also used the opportunity to exchange their personal vows. Love prevails! The beautiful space and lush wildflowers, together with the bride’s chic bridal jumpsuit, made for a beautifully…

Featuring many of the most sought after wedding professionals in Malaysia, Marriott International x WAF2019 was a delightful revelation of what we predict will be the wedding trends to look out for in 2020. #01 Hanging Installations From chandeliers and crystals to flowers and more, hanging installations, whether lush or minimalist, seem to be what it’s all about. The ‘Love Tunnel’ experience by Wishing Tree was mesmerising, proving that wedding décor is no longer one dimensional. The layering of mirrors and crystals left us breathless, and we can imagine this being an absolutely stunning entrance to your wedding space. A Boho Chic, Wes Anderson-inspired Wedding at Janda Baik

No stone was left unturned at this beautifully conceptualised Wes Anderson-inspired wedding. Full of decorative rugs and feathers, the newlyweds paid homage to Anderson’s quirky and distinctive aesthetic, from the colour palette and the décor to even his trademark symmetry. The bohemian style and festival vibe was an unconventional choice, but what an amazing wedding it turned out to be! Thanks to ChongYee Photography for capturing all the intricate details.

Blush, Gold And Green Backyard Wedding

When the father of the groom said he didn’t want a “typical Chinese wedding”, this couple jumped at the opportunity to do something different – a backyard wedding for loved ones and close friends that was swanky yet cosy. The first thing they did was to hire a reliable wedding planner and discuss their plans with a decorator. They decided on blush, gold and green – colours that they loved and that would bring out the natural beauty of the family home. Bouquets of roses and hydrangeas adorned the lovely garden where they would wed, and every other detail, too, was planned and carried out to perfection. Many thanks to…

Classic Oriental Wedding At Glasshouse At Seputeh

It is amazing how themes can totally transform a wedding venue. Glasshouse@Seputeh Kuala Lumpur has scored major points with event hosts, and it’s easy to see why. When it comes to weddings, this is a great space, especially for couples who have a very clear idea of their theme. We were mesmerised by the Shanghai-esque flavour of this wedding. The classy deep red of the handsome couple’s ‘qipao’ and shirt, drapes, lanterns and oriental wares all made for a stunning traditional Chinese setting. As the bride shared, “The most memorable moments were spending time with our guests and seeing all our plans come to fruition.” Good job, Spring Cottage, and…

Couture-Inspired Mix Of Creams And Blush At The Westin Kuala Lumpur

We at The Wedding Notebook have been savouring the romantic combination of floral and tulle in couture bridal fashion these past few seasons, so much so that we decided to roll up our sleeves and get into some theme planning fun for our recent lunch event at The Westin Kuala Lumpur. We found great joy in sourcing and mixing fabrics for this themed affair – a dreamy marriage of blush, pink and off white with a touch of gold. There was a mix of ruffles and tulle for the table settings, which flowed in perfect keeping with the hues of the theme, and some stationery as well, courtesy of yours…

Art Deco, Coco Chanel-Inspired Elegance At InterContinental Kuala Lumpur

The great Coco Chanel once said, “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance,” and indeed, less is definitely more when it comes to the Chanel brand’s signature neutral tones. In this Coco Chanel-inspired setup, black, white, taupe, beige and gold were the perfect accompaniments to the decorative elements of clear bottles, pearls and gilded textures. Acrylic gilded paint applied to the inside of oyster shells made for beautiful place card holders, and an interesting art deco twist completed the minimalist, timeless yet modern look. The final touch to ensuring that everything looked absolutely perfect was the right venue – InterContinental Kuala Lumpur’s ballroom and lobby looked amazing dressed in…
