The pandemic definitely threw a spanner into the works, but that didn’t stop Eileen and Nicholas from planning their dream wedding – and having the time of their lives when they finally got to celebrate their union. We know many couples have had to recalibrate their wedding plans, and these newlyweds were no different. From the décor to the delectable cheeseboard, they put extra thought into their special day to make their guests feel as if they had “travelled” somewhere. The Wedding Notebook Magazine July 2021 – Issue 35
With travel plans and many weddings put on hold, we hope this issue will inspire you as you plan your own pandemic wedding. Most of these couples will have waited at least a year for their big day, and there’s a couple who waited 693 days! Despite the pared down guestlists and last-minute changes, each of these weddings were a dream come true, featuring unique highlights such as the creative use of an abandoned space, a yacht celebration, a Santorini-like venue, and a surprise retreat in place of an after party! What’s that saying? “If you can’t change the situation, change your attitude.” See how you can emulate a destination…

A Light-Filled, Minimalist Wedding with a Surprise Getaway at The Shorea!
With the pandemic that is upon us, it’s time to get creative. Life has to go on, and we love how this couple celebrated their union with a surprise getaway for their “after party”. Accompanied by their 20 guests, the trip followed their wedding ceremony at the conservatory-style restaurant Botanica + Co, and was actually a surprise from the groom to his new bride. How romantic! Many thanks to MunKeat Photography for capturing the joy of this beautiful celebration. Rowena of The Peak Xperience: “Jordan had pulled out all the stops to arrange a surprise retreat at The Shorea especially for Seh Xi, with a handful of their dearest friends…

An Elegant Backyard Garden Wedding
For this backyard wedding, the bride transformed her garden into an elegant floral wonderland so she and her groom could say, “I do”. The attention to detail was impeccable, as she had thought of everything, right down to just the right touches of rustic wooden accents. We especially loved the “into the woods” feel of the reception, where it seemed like guests were stepping into a fantasy woodland filled with fairy lights. Many thanks to MunKeat Photography for this gorgeous set of photos!

Vintage Rustic Florals With A Touch Of Gold At Tanarimba, Janda Baik
There is an undeniable warmth that comes with wooden décor elements. Pair them with an abundance of flowers and lush greens in a venue with a grassy knoll and high wooden ceilings, and it all made for the perfect rustic barn theme. Special touches included the wagon wheel centerpiece, stacks of hay and wooden pallets, and embellishments in the form of dried leaves, twine and vine leaves. Complementing the rustic theme were the breathtaking floral choices (even the table names were flower names and their meanings), an ice cream bar and a vintage Volkswagen van. Tying together all of these decorative elements were pops of gold, from the gilded chairs…

An Extravagant Wedding At Marini’s On 57
The decorative details at this wedding were simply breathtaking, and we love the colour palette that surely added to its sophistication: white to symbolise faith, black to convey elegance, and grey as a compromise between the two. The bride favoured a cosy garden wedding, and that was made possible with a leafy green wall and astro turf right on the 57th floor, with a view of the Petronas Twin Towers! After the bridal couple exchanged their vows, their reception was where the magic happened: from the white roses to the lavish gilded candleholders, from the black tablecloths to the sumptuous silver sequined cake. The draped curtains added dramatic flair to…
