The Wedding Notebook Magazine April 2021 – Issue 34

Fuss-free and light-hearted weddings take centre stage this issue, as we share stories of couples who kept things intimate with a small reception – or ditched their reception in favour of a photography session. When it comes to wedding venues, your imagination is your limit, from the traditional cathedral or ballroom to a boutique hotel or even the Tipi Tent at Night Safari in Singapore. In all our stories, each couple found beautiful ways to make the venue their own with simple additions. As for bridal portraits, the pandemic’s travel restrictions have meant that couples are limited to destinations within their own countries, but do not despair. See how photographers…

A Chic, Nature-Filled, Dusty Blue Wedding at Tamarind Springs, KL

Weddings don’t always have to be formal affairs, you can get all dolled up for a low-key celebration too. Here, we love the combination of a dusty blue colour palette and wooden textures, surrounded by lush greenery and elegant blooms. The bridal couple also added personal touches in the form of a sports jersey guestbook and a delectable gelato stand featuring Malaysian flavours. Many thanks to Zach Chin of MunKeat Studios for this delightful set of wedding photos! Jocelyn: “Our highlights of the day were multiple tear-jerking speeches, as well as a surprise video from my dad. He had spent several months practising and recording a song! “We have always…

Elegant Blush and Blue Wedding at Cantaloupe, The Troika Sky Dining

To infuse a pop of colour into an elegant wedding, as this couple did at Cantaloupe, The Troika Sky Dining, is to create a delightful surprise. As the venue already featured a fantastic classy, industrial backdrop, their tastefully selected décor of silver and gold, blush and magenta bouquets, and wood-toned stationery was minimal so as to not overpower the surroundings. The bride shared: “We had many themes in mind initially but we decided it was more important to keep things real and capture the moments with the people who matter. We went with minimal décor, and Moments Wedding Planner helped to ensure that we would have less floral elements and…

A Blush Pink Floral Wedding At Hilton Kuala Lumpur

We love how this bride chose to keep her colour palette white and elegant, letting the bold colours of the flowers take centrestage with the décor. Complementing this were the blush pink bridesmaids’ dresses and the natural, lush greenery, which served as the perfect backdrop to the exchange of the wedding vows. Pops of fuchsia and deep red from the flowers and the gilded candlesticks added the right touch of elegance and glamour to the intimate soiree. Many thanks to ZA Gallery for capturing these amazing shots. Tiffany: “I woke up on our wedding day feeling overwhelmed with happiness and excitement. It felt so surreal after months of planning and…

Rustic Backyard Wedding At The Greyhouse

There’s nothing quite as cool as a rustic backyard BBQ party, where people can just chill and have a great time. This bride planned everything so well all by herself. Love how the red anchors the space and blends perfectly well with the grey house. Thanks, Zach, for sending over this set. Tips from the bride: “Decide what you want, but be flexible and communicate constantly with each other.”

    Breakfast At The Park

The thing about weddings, as much as most people want to be different, they often find themselves falling into the trap of mediocrity. This site is not about imitation, or worse, intimidation and making you think there’s a benchmark for what your wedding should be like. Rather, it’s about inspiring you to be who you are and celebrating that, as well as reminding you of the things you love and that purity of love you had as a child. Euodia and Nic are a couple that embodies that. According to Chinese tradition, it should have been a gatecrashing ceremony. We have nothing against that – it can be fun and…

    A Touch Of Red

This garden wedding ceremony held at the historical heritage mansion Carcosa Seri Negara was filled with tears and laughter. In the photographer, Zach’s, own words, “it’s definitely one of the most memorable weddings we’ve ever captured”. We believe memories are made from the things that wedding couples put together. In this instance, the Yoon’s gorgeous dress was made by her friend Veralyne, who is a wedding gown designer. Also, the garden décor and white helium balloons, as well as the bride’s vintage bags, were all collected during her many travels. The beauty of it all can only truly be seen when everything comes together. YOON & BRIAN {Malaysia} Photography by…

    The Tuscan Castle

On a beautiful afternoon, in a castle on top of a hill far, far away in the medieval town of Serre di Rapolano in Italy, Dolores and Martin tied the knot. The groom actually entered the venue to the song from the movie The Rock, and saw his bride in her bridal gown for the first time when she walked down the aisle. Dolores shed tears of joy when she met Martin at the altar, and the exchanging of vows was very emotional. At sunset, the tables for the wedding reception were beautifully set for dinner, and the place slowly began to fill with family and friends, laughter and love.…
